I bought a Ruger LCP II today to fill a gap in my self-defense plan. I like to take long walks, but I don't want to have to wear heavy pants or Jorts (basically any form of pant that would heavy enough to support my Glock 19) or any sort of bag when I do. I'd like to be able to wear light gym shorts, and I'd like a pistol small enough to clip onto the waistband to take with me. The review is performed on a 1" grid board for size comparison. I also compare it briefly to my wife's S&W BodyGuard, which I have borrowed from time to time to wear on my shorts for walks. That size and style of holster is perfect, so I wanted to get a similar firearm for myself so I wouldn't have to keep borrowing hers :). Size-wise, the LCP II and the BodyGuard are nearly identical. the LCP II is slightly wider in the grip area (which is a good thing, makes is WAY more comfortable to hold). The BodyGuard is just slightly longer than the LCP II because of the beavertail. Overall I feel like the LCP II is more ergonomic. I'll give more of a comparison after I've taken them to the range together and blown through some rounds. In summary, so far I'm really enjoying this little guy. Before I made my purchase I studied dozens of reviews for a variety of different models. When I was done, I felt like the LCP II had the most positive reviews and the best overall features for pistols in its class. It also had one of the best price-points for pistols in it's class and quality category. Taurus has a pistol in this category at about $100 less, but who the heck is going to trust their life to a Taurus if can afford the LCP? The Taurus is also far less ergonomic, and just not as nice a firearm as the LCP.
